Appreciated securities can be made as an outright gift of stocks, bonds, and/or mutual fund shares. This is an especially attractive option, as you may enjoy significant tax savings by donating securities that you have held for at least one year. This type of gift can be as simple as an electronic transfer.

Planned Gifts

Whether you want to make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime, or a gift that gives you guaranteed income for life allow, us to work with you to help you create a legacy for you and your family.

Charitable Gift Annuity

With a charitable gift annuity, you will receive a safe and stable income stream for the rest of your life (and the life of another person if you choose), while securing the financial future of Mozaic Senior Life. A gift annuity is a simple contract between a donor and Mozaic Senior Life in which Mozaic Senior Life pays the donor a yearly sum based on the value of the gift and the age of the donor. With the uncertainty of a volatile economic environment, the inherent risks associated with the stock market, and low interest rates, there can be no better time than now to contemplate an investment in a Charitable Gift Annuity with Mozaic Senior Life.

IRA Charitable Rollover

Under the extended charitable IRA legislation for 2013, if you are 70½ or older, you can make a charitable gift to Mozaic Senior Life using funds from your individual retirement accounts (IRAs) possibly without undesirable tax effects.

Charitable Bequest

A charitable bequest is simply a distribution from your estate to Mozaic Senior Life through your last will and testament. Bequests are popular because they give you the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy. When you make a charitable bequest, you retain full use of your property during life, so there is no disruption of your lifestyle and no immediate out-of-pocket cost.

Since a charitable bequest can take many forms, you have great flexibility on how you make the designation in your will. For example, you can leave…

  • A specific sum of money
  • A percentage of your estate
  • Or what remains of your estate after you have provided for all of your other beneficiaries

You can also designate exactly how you want your bequest to be used or you can provide an unrestricted bequest that can be used wherever it is needed most.

Life Insurance

This allows you to make a gift of assets that may no longer be needed, or that have “outlived” their original purpose. One can choose to use the “cash value” of a policy to fund a gift, or name Mozaic Senior Life as the “beneficiary”, to receive all or a portion of the proceeds of the policy at death.

Other Ways to Remember a Loved One

Memorial plaques, located near the synagogue at Mozaic Senior Life, are cast in bronze and inscribed with the individual’s name and date of death. Every plaque bears a small light, which is lit on the anniversary of your loved one’s death (based on the Hebrew calendar).

The Perpetual Yahrzeit Observance will memorialize your loved one during the week of the anniversary of his or her death with the recitation of the traditional memorial prayer. You’ll be notified of the Yahrzeit date by mail. When one gives tzedakah in someone’s memory, it is viewed as a tribute to his or her life and the Jewish values he or she sought to preserve.
