There are many ways to include Mozaic Senior Life in your long-term plans - each one reflecting your own financial situation, values, and vision for the future. Below you will find some of the most common and meaningful ways donors have chosen.
This is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to support Mozaic Senior Life. By including us in your will or living trust, you create a gift that costs nothing during your lifetime but carries profound meaning for the older adults we serve — now and for generations to come.
Giving through your will can take many forms. You might leave a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular asset. You can also name Mozaic Senior Life as a contingent beneficiary, meaning we receive your gift only if other named beneficiaries are unable to. Whatever form it takes, giving through your will says something important: that what Mozaic Senior Life stands for was worth protecting.
If you have already included Mozaic Senior Life in your estate plans, we would love to know. Sharing that intention with us — even informally — allows us to honor your commitment and welcome you into the Chesed Legacy Society.
Suggested Language for Your Will:
"I give, bequeath and devise to the Jewish Home for the Elderly of Fairfield County, dba Mozaic Senior Life (EIN 06-0846991), a nonprofit organization located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, [the sum of $_______ / ___% of my estate / the residue of my estate] to be used for its general purposes."
Your estate planning attorney can help you incorporate this language into your existing documents or a new will.
A charitable gift annuity (CGA) is a giving arrangement that works for you and for Mozaic Senior Life at the same time. You make an irrevocable gift of cash or appreciated securities. In return, Mozaic Senior Life commits to paying you — and, if you choose, a second person — a fixed income for life. The remainder supports our work when the annuity concludes.
The benefits are real and measurable. Your payment rate is set at the time of the gift and guaranteed for life. A portion of your gift may be tax-deductible, and part of each payment you receive may be tax-free. If you fund the annuity with appreciated assets, you may also reduce capital gains exposure.
The minimum gift to establish a charitable gift annuity with Mozaic Senior Life is $10,000. We follow the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA) recommended rates.
This allows you to make a gift of assets that may no longer be needed, or that have “outlived” their original purpose. One can choose to use the “cash value” of a policy to fund a gift, or name Mozaic Senior Life as the “beneficiary”, to receive all or a portion of the proceeds of the policy at death.

A donor advised fund (DAF) is one of the most flexible giving tools available. You may already have one. What many donors do not realize is that a DAF can do more than write annual checks to your favorite organizations. It can become a vehicle for lasting, perpetual support.
By designating Mozaic Senior Life as a permanent successor beneficiary of your DAF, you ensure that your philanthropic relationship with us continues beyond your lifetime, with the remaining balance directed to Mozaic Senior Life when the fund concludes. This costs you nothing now, requires no change to your current giving, and adds a meaningful dimension to a tool you already use.
The process is straightforward. Contact your DAF sponsor — whether that is Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, or a community foundation — and request to add Mozaic Senior Life as a successor beneficiary. You can designate a specific percentage or the full remaining balance.
If you already distribute grants from your DAF to Mozaic Senior Life each year, adding a successor beneficiary designation is a natural next step. It closes the loop between the generosity you practice today and the legacy you leave behind.
Legacy giving is not one-size-fits-all. The right approach depends on your financial situation, your family circumstances, and what you want your gift to ultimately accomplish. Some people begin with a simple bequest and never look further. Others discover that a more structured arrangement — like a charitable trust or annuity — aligns better with their goals.
You do not need a large estate to make a legacy gift. And you do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. The most important first step is simply starting the conversation.
No pressure. No obligation. Just an honest conversation about what matters to you and how Mozaic Senior Life might help you realize your dreams.
